Week 7 was all about a lack of sleep. How do you function on lack of sleep? We found that due to the schedule we created that last week was heavy on work, play and commitment. For me personally it had me awaking at around 5.30am after getting to bed after midnight each night so about 5 hrs a day of sleep. The day was consisting of meetings back to back generally, including some high energy ones, plus the X Factor course kicked off as well.
The thing about sleep and exhaustion is that its the same as anything else. What I mean is that if you ask for it… you get it. Plain and simple. One day we worked all day, jumped the midnight flight to Kuala Lumpur, then worked all day again and ended up home well after midnight. For those of you that don’t live in Asia…business is very social here.
The X Factor competitions were well attended with awesome entrepreneurs and after two sessions in Perth and Melbourne we had two amazing winners – both exuded Clarity, Purpose, a strong call to action and passion. Josh Williams of http://www.myvids.com.au did a brilliant presentation to clean up Perth, whilst Alan Jackson of http://www.mytaxbook.com.au proved that flying all the way from Sydney was justified as he took out the Melbourne event with a very clear call to action.
In Malaysia we ran our 3 day Rock Your Business program – and had over 40 entrepreneurs join us at Green City for a very eco focussed event. It’s an amazing event in that all we do is facilitate learnings and Paul Zaman, Lilian Lim, Matthias Gelber, Dave Rogers and myself have an extreme amount of fun working with all the participants individually as well as together in groups. However – Malaysia has a work hard play hard model so sleep was definitely not an option over those few days. Thanks KL
What’s your relationship with sleep? 20 mins in the afternoon can do wonders to replenish you. Solid sleep in a quiet room is better than surrounded by noise. We gain energy from our participants and friends so it’s not draining and I expect the next 3 weeks to be pretty much the same. Bring it on.
